Many species as well as human beings exist on the earth. These species have close interrelations among them through food web or energy flow. Bioresources are essential as food resources for human beings and as energy to maintain the global environment. We could have utilized bioresources continually by hunting and/or cultivation since ancient times. However many kinds of problems, such as environmental degradation, and land use change due to population explosion and rapid industrialization and urbanization, have occurred and negative impacts on biosphere and human beings. In order to solve serious problems it is necessary to study global environment with a broad view of all fields related to the establishment of sustainable world society.
